ITV – News Traineeships and Apprenticeships
ITV offer a news traineeship and an apprenticeship programme across a variety of business areas.
News Traineeshipis a 9 month programme. Positions exist around the Uk. You need to be over 18 to apply. On this scheme you will be based in one of ITVs newsrooms and will benefit from working alongside experienced and talented multi-platform journalists who will teach you the basics of TV and online journalism.
This will be combined with classroom based learning to ensure that you are equipped with the core skills to build a career in broadcast news. You’ll receive a salary and five weeks annual leave pro-rata’d during the scheme. A very high percentage of those who graduate from the programme have gone on to secure permanent jobs with both ITV News and ITV more widely, although there are no guarantees of continued employment beyond the 9 months.
You will need to provide evidence of having a GCSE in Mathematics or equivalent (Grade C or above) and English Language or equivalent (Grade B or above), as well as being able to evidence your genuine interest in News output.
Apprenticeship Programme
ITV also offer an apprenticeship programme. It’s a minimum 12 month paid programme within one of their departments, and during your time, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience from working with industry experts.
The programmes last for 12 months or longer, depending on the qualification, and have lots to offer, including:

You can apply if you:
- DO NOT have a degree, a level 4 qualification or have already completed a similar apprenticeship
- Have lived in the European Economic Area for 3 years consecutively
