Costain’s purpose is to improve people’s lives through technology-based engineering solutions, to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation. They work on large projects which currently include; Crossrail, Thames Tideway Tunnel, High Speed Rail and A14 improvement scheme, with main offices in Maidenhead, Birmingham and Manchester.

They offer higher and degree apprenticeships as well as a sponsored student programme.

Apprenticeships – level 4 and level 6.

These include:

• Civil engineering
• Quantity Surveying
• Project Management

Entry Requirements

• Has the equivalent of 5 GCSEs, grades A*-C or 9-4, including Maths, Science and English
• 3 A-levels at grade BBB (not including general studies), or equivalent level 3 qualification ( 2 A levels only required for the level 4 schemes)

Sponsored Student Programme

As one of their sponsored students, you’ll receive a bursary payment for each academic year of study, support with your dissertation and a graduate offer pending good performance. You will also have the opportunity to network and build relationships with like-minded people across the business, access to professional and technical experts, exposure to Costain’s business and strategies and the chance to enhance your academic studies with a series of summer work placements.

They offer sponsored student placements , both summer placements and longer-term industrial placements as part of the Sponsored Student Programme.The Sponsored Student Programme summer work placements last between 8-12 weeks. During your industrial placement period (6 -12 months), you’ll have a chance to work across a range of exciting projects across the UK.
