Charles Russell Speechlys offers an Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme.
This six-year programme allows you to study for an LLB degree in Legal Practice, build your career and become a qualified solicitor whilst working and earning without having to pay the university fees.
Four days a week will be spent working in the practice groups and one day will be allocated to study. You will spend a year in each practice group where you will be involved in many of the day to day tasks of a trainee lawyer. Throughout your apprenticeship you will experience a broad range of the practice areas as you rotate through a variety of groups.
Some of your key tasks as a solicitor apprentice may include:
- Drafting documents and correspondence
- Assisting partners and associates with various tasks
- Liaising with clients, other law firms and third parties including Local Authorities, Companies House etc.
- Conducting legal research
- As you gain more experience, you’ll be given more responsibility such as attending client meetings with your supervisor and running parts of files
Part-time LLB in Legal Practice
During the first four years of your apprenticeship you will study towards an LLB in Legal Practice, on completion of which you will be awarded a law degree. This course will also prepare you for the first set of the Solicitors Regulation Authority exams that you have to pass in order to become a solicitor.
Postgraduate Legal Practice Subjects
For the last two years of your apprenticeship you will study the subjects and professional skills required to practise as a solicitor. The course will also prepare you for the second set of the Solicitors Regulation Authority assessments, which are practical legal skills assessments.
In order to apply, you must have achieved or be predicted at least BBB at A-Level (or equivalent), as well as 8 GCSE’s grades A*-C including English and Maths.
