Burges Salmon – Legal & Business Apprenticeships
Burges Salmon is the independent UK law firm with over 350 lawyers, with offices in London and Bristol. They offer both legal and business professional apprenticeship programmes.
Legal Apprenticeship
The programme involves completing a Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship with additional study to give you a Level 4 qualification (equivalent to the first year of university). Obtaining this Level 4 qualification means that you will be able to complete the Level 7 Solicitor apprenticeship in a reduced period of time (five years, instead of six). They will support those who have the inclination and ability to complete the Level 7 qualification. This means you could qualify as a solicitor at the same time as someone who decided to go to university, with the added benefit of six years of work experience.
You will be based in the Legal Service Delivery Centre during the first year of the Apprenticeship. The Centre plays an integral role in supporting all legal departments and clients. In the second year of the apprenticeship you will complete four month ‘seats’ within three legal departments of your choice. This will give you an insight into different areas of law at Burges Salmon and the chance to work with a variety of high profile clients.
Their apprenticeships involve both classroom training ( provided by BPP) as well as on the job learning which lead to various legal roles as well as qualifying as a solicitor. You will start your apprenticeship by learning the basics. As time goes on you will experience different areas of the firm, diversify your workload and increase your level of responsibility. By the end of the apprenticeship you will have developed a wide range of invaluable transferable skills and have a thorough understanding of what it is like to work in a top commercial law firm . The programme is based in Bristol.
Business Professional Apprenticeship
This Level 3 Apprenticeship will last for18 months. During the initial 12 month period, you will be given the opportunity to work in three different departments.
