Smith & Williamson is an independently-owned financial services firm, , home to an accountancy practice, an investment management arm and a private bank. They offer a number of structured trainee programmes. They cover a broad range of areas and are driven towards you gaining a professional qualification e.g. the ACA, ATT/CTA or IAD/CWM.
Opportunities:
- Trainee chartered accountant Audit – ACA – Level 7 Apprentice – This opportunity is with Nexia Smith & Williamson, an independent company which provides audit and related services to complement Smith & Williamson’s specialist financial advisory services.
- Trainee chartered accountant – Business Outsourcing Services – ACA – Level 7 Apprentice – Sitting within the accounts team you will be working with clients to provide advice and solutions that really make a difference.
- Business tax trainee – ACA – Level 7 Apprentice – Working closely with senior tax professionals. One moment you could be helping a small business ensure they are tax compliant; the next, you could be learning the complex, but fascinating cross-border considerations of international tax.
- Private client tax trainee – Joint ATT/CTA – Level 7 Apprentice – The private client tax service, advises individuals, businesses and trusts. No two days are ever the same and your unique perspective will influence the finances of a truly diverse range of clients.
- Trainee Investment manager – IAD (Level 4) & CWM (Level 7) – After spending your first year soaking up expertise through placements in the investment settlement operations, compliance and front office departments, you’ll join a desk permanently where you’ll begin dealing with clients and developing a highly promising career.
- Valuations – Corporate Finance Diploma – The valuations you work on could be accounting or tax related, or the context could be even more pressing, such as a shareholder leaving a business, or a matrimonial contention. You will learn how to accurately evaluate assets, transactions or entire companies.
Whichever department you choose, you’ll enjoy first-class training and develop the skills you need to become a trusted business advisor. You’ll also experience placements in other departments and valuable networking opportunities. The qualifications you’ll study towards will depend on the department you’re in. These include: Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CBAF), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
Academic requirements:
– 112 UCAS points, in your top three A-levels (excluding General Studies)
– GCSE English and maths (or equivalent) at a minimum of grade B
